This classic formula had been replaced by several newer ones in the past by adding other herbs and made by modern technique. One of them is the China Yu Quan 3rd generation which was supposedly more effective than its predecessor, but over the last ten years or so people are switching back to the 2nd generation formula for its effectiveness.
There are many remedies and combinations of vitamins that work well in one or more aspects of the treatment of diabetes, but few actually can take care of the whole treatment of the disease.

The Yu Quan 2nd Gen. nurtures yin which is a condition to be treated first. It strengthens kidney, lung and spleen, dispels phlegm-heat, relieves thirst, circulates fluid, regulates appetite, calms Shen. A truly classic prescription for the treatment of diabetes (in Chinese it is called 'sugar urine disease'). Used for both juvenile and insipid diabetes in China.
Insulin level should be monitored and adjusted while taking this patent formula though.

The bottle contains about 800 tiny pills. For the beginning one could take :
40 pills, three to four times daily until sugar level is normallized. This usually takes a week or so.
Then cut down the dosage slowly, maintaining correct sugar level; say by 5 pills each time.
In most cases one can maintain 20 pills, three time daily afterwards.

A healthy life style is essential for diabetes patients which include gentle exercises, watch out for carbohydrates etc.
