The Piano CD
Recording was basically premixed percussion with a Spanish guitar
at the background as fill-in. Originally recorded on eight-track
then
reduced to stereo two-tract with some cross-overs for live-like
effects. The piano: in some pieces where piano sound was mixed
with
guitar and harp, was played in the center. Technically bass was
enhenced to about 2dB above the normal level to give the 'punch'
for
people who enjoy easy listening music at low volume. For those
who like to play loud music, or when played in a noisy enviroment
like
parties, the base (typically between 100 to 400 Hertz), should
be reduced by half depending on the amplification of bass of the
system.
Mini-compos, for example, usually produce extremely colorful sounds
so the bass should be reduced to avoid distortions.
La Gloria eres
Tu was originally played by LSR on the guitar
in the same fashion; the rolling effect here is rarely used by
pianists.
Asi Bailaba Cuba is
a potpourri of three extremely popular Cuban tunes of the 40s
and the 50s, namely En el sendero de mi vida,
Lagrimas negras and Veinte años.
Aquellos Ojos Verdes is a typical harp-guitar
way of playing Latin music, perhaps a little closer to the Paraguayan
than the Venezuelan style.
Tigi-tigi
was the first composition LSR endeavoured in the mid-60s, played
for the first time in a school party with his guitar.it
has never been written but
played elsewhere.
Baile/Piel Canela is
another potpourri of Cha-cha. The first part was a piece composed
by LSR for guitar playing in the late 80s,
the second half is a very
popular song by Bobby Capo- Piel Canela. |
